Phalaenopsis tetraspis var alba

£16.99 (Sold out)

Phalaenopsis tetraspis var alba produce pure white flowers, with longitudinal purple stripes on the basal half of the midlobe of the lip. The late Eric A Christenson does not separate these plants from the type for Phalaenopsis tetraspis as a different variety.

Phalaenopsis tetraspis is a medium sized plant with leaves up to 20 cm. The arching inflorescences, longer than the leaves, usually bear 4 to 8 strongly fragrant white flowers, with a few transverse purple bars on the petals and sepals, which are variable in each single flower. The lateral lobes of the lip are yellow, whilst the midlobe is suffused pink with a dense mat of white trichomes covering the apical half.

Phalaenopsis tetraspis is found in Andaman and Nicobar Islands in India, as well as Indonesea in Sumatra.

Plants provided as flowering size in an 8 cm pot.
