Phalaenopsis stuartiana fma punctatissima

£16.00 (Sold out)

Phalaenopsis stuartiana is a medium to large sized plant with beautifully mottled leaves that grow to 35 cm long and up to 10 cm wide. The underneath is suffused with purple. The inflorescences are long, gracefuylly arched, often branched, and carry many flowers that will open rapidly, so that all flowers in a single spike might be open within a couple of days. The white flowers are faintly fragrant and rather long lasting; the inner half of the lateral sepals greenish yellow with brown spots that extend to the lip.

Phalaenopsis stuartiana fma punctatissima is a rather delightful form of the species, where the typically white dorsal sepal and petals of the flowers are covered in red/marron spots similar to those on the lateral sepals of the type species. One of the most famous examples of this form is Phalaenopsis stuartiana fma punctatissima 'Larkin Valley' AM/AOS.

This species is endemic to the island of Mindanao in southern Philippines.

Plants provided as near flowering sized plants in an 8 cm pot.
